WABA – Western Alberta Bouldering Association

Alessandro Roome-Sandrin had the vision 2 years ago to form a Society to address bouldering access in Western Alberta.  The newly created group of Alessandro Roome-Sandrin, Scott Eveleigh, Keith Nalepa, Regan Kennedy and Mark Carlson had a meeting with Alberta Parks on how to become stewards of the bouldering areas.  The Western Alberta Bouldering Association (WABA) was created in 2020 to provide stewardship, preserve access, and promote the world class bouldering in Western Alberta.

WABA aims to work with land managers and stakeholders to obtain permission for new development, maintain access and to perform maintenance in already established areas.  They also hope to foster and grow the local community of climbers.  There is talk of holding a small festival of bouldering similar to what the Southern Alberta Bouldering Association does at Frank Slide.  This festival would ideally continue to foster the feeling of community, encourage good stewardship and have a ton of fun!
