Do you love climbing? Making your own problems?
Have you always wanted to set your own problems at the gym!
The Chinook route-setting team is hosting a 2 day course on the basics of commercial routesetting.
Topics to be covered include the setters purpose, various styles, safety, aesthetics, along with some theoretical knowledge for fun and creative boulder problems.
This is a local clinic aimed at the Calgary climbing community and will focus on setting boulder problems only.
Applicants should have a C4/C5 climbing ability, passion for the sport, and an open mind!
*No setting experience required*
We will be accepting 6 applicants.
Register by Nov 25th. Successful applicants will be notified on Monday Nov 26th.
Cost for the course is $60+gst. Payment will be due upon acceptance to Course.
Day 1 (Tuesday Dec 4th)
9am – Practical Instruction/ safety orientation.
10am – Volumes and white hold fill in team room. Wall prep.
12pm – Theory of setting and where to get ideas.
1pm – clinic day 1 complete
Day 2 (Wednesday Dec 5th)
8am – Everyone sets a problem each.
9am – Forerun
11am – Lunch
12pm – All set another problem each.
1pm – Forerun
3pm – Final chat/questions
4pm – End of Day 2
Practical instruction
Basic safety and how-to’s of setting (bolt lengths, not spinning t-nuts, ladder safety, etc…)
Theoretical instruction
• Teamwork/Communication

• Style
